برای تکمیل جملات با استفاده از زمان گذشته استمراری (Past Continuous) باید فعلها را به شکل صحیح صرف کنیم. زمان گذشته استمراری از ترکیب فعل "to be" در زمان گذشته (was/were) و فعل اصلی به همراه "ing" تشکیل میشود. در زیر پاسخهای صحیح برای هر جمله ارائه میشود:
1. Were your sisters watching TV at midnight?
2. We were eating lunch in the cafeteria at noon.
3. Were you talking on the phone when I saw the car accident?
4. I was walking home when I saw the car accident.
5. My classmate and I were studying together at the library.
6. David was cleaning the house and we were cooking.
7. A: What were you doing at one o'clock?
B: I was sleeping when you arrived.
8. The car engine was not working, so I had to fix it.
9. Were you listening to the teacher?
10. At seven o'clock, Mr. Smith was robbing the bank.
11. Steven was not doing his homework; he was playing with his friends.
12. It was raining last night, so I took my umbrella.
13. Anne was studying in London last year.
14. I was working as a teacher when I first met your mother.
15. We were swimming and you were sitting on the floor.
