General Qasem Soleimani was an Iranian military commander and the leader of the Quds Force, a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He played a key role in Iran’s military operations in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Iraq, where he helped fight against ISIS and supported various allied groups.
On January 3, 2020, General Soleimani was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. His death significantly impacted regional politics and heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.
